Ownsmart

Everything you own, and everything you’re owed

Ownsmart keeps your receipts and warranties together, reminds you before return windows and warranties end, and tells you what you may still be entitled to under consumer law after the warranty is over.

Common questions

How do I add a receipt?

Tap + Add and point the camera at the receipt on a flat surface in good light. Ownsmart reads the store, date, price and product for you. Check the details, fix anything that’s wrong, then tap Save. For email or PDF receipts, tap the Share button in Mail, Files or Photos and choose Ownsmart.

Why weren’t some details filled in automatically?

Reading receipts works best on iPhones with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer). Other iPhones still read the text, but you may need to check a few more details. Faded or crumpled receipts are hard to read, so it’s worth scanning them soon after you buy.

How do I scan a serial or model number?

When adding or editing an item, tap the camera button next to Serial number or Model number. Point it at the label (often on the back or underneath) and tap the number, or its barcode, when it’s highlighted.

How do I find and save the manual?

Open the item and tap Find the manual online. Ownsmart searches for the brand and model. Open the manual, then tap Save PDF to keep it with the item, so it’s there even if the website changes.

I’m not getting reminders

Open the iPhone Settings app, tap Notifications, then Ownsmart, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. You can choose how far ahead you’re reminded in Ownsmart’s own Settings.

What is the “still covered” check?

In many countries your consumer rights last longer than the manufacturer’s warranty. Ownsmart covers New Zealand (Consumer Guarantees Act), Australia (Australian Consumer Law), the United Kingdom (Consumer Rights Act), the European Union and Canada (provincial law). In the US, implied warranties vary by state, so Ownsmart explains your options without giving a date. Set your country in Settings so the check uses the right rules.

Is the “still covered” check legal advice?

No. It’s general information to help you understand your rights and talk to the store or manufacturer. Every situation is different. For advice about your own case, contact your local consumer protection agency or a lawyer.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Ownsmart Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On a new or reset iPhone, open Ownsmart, go to Settings and tap Restore Purchase. Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple. You can ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I move my items to a new iPhone?

With Pro, turn on Sync with iCloud in Ownsmart’s Settings. On the new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account, install Ownsmart, tap Restore Purchase, then turn on Sync with iCloud, and your items come back. Your items are also included in your normal iPhone backups, and Pro lets you export everything as a PDF or CSV file.

Where are my receipts and items stored?

On your iPhone, and in your own private iCloud account if you turn on iCloud sync. Ownsmart has no account and no servers, and I can’t see your data. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Swipe left on any item in the Vault to delete it. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your iPhone. If you used iCloud sync, also open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud → Manage Storage, choose Ownsmart and delete its data.
